looking for the ND Community's favorite Bob Dylan songs. He was inspired by an issue
of 'Rolling Stone' magazine, where they counted down 40 years of Bob Dylan interviews.
More than 100 people responded to the pop quiz and now Terry's got a comprehensive

William Pilgrim's 'Great Recession'
by big boy
What's not to like about a formerly homeless black guy who sounds like a crusty
blend of Hank Williams 111 and Kid Rock, gritty and nasty, with the raw street sound
of Ted Hawkins. William Pilgrim is the band,(actually a duo with partner/producer
PM Romero providing guitars, keys and percussion) named after the Kurt Vonnegut
novel. Ishmael (call me Ish) Herring is the voice of this beast from L.A. But there
ain't no California dreamin' here. This stuff is rough trade, shitkicker fare made
for dancin' and fightin' in a joint with chicken wire in front of the bandstand
and the sound of bustin' bottles... More [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?e=001c3KWelEg5dCBxnTN83MPwxzeMKdS2c9fwKEmmK-b0GXSH1DJBpf0cUx2RfMLthzyrqHeK3w6tY7OFj3DGdx-aKLfBENTRtFMRhRylValoYvm1fJrw-2j8Dq3zkcJ3009QTuPIlFFIXz9n4foxFhglocmSOKPzmQP2zDrtRLH5Met2xSWMwzCEUvlnxn2sVBRZGkCBUv5z9MFOP-ZJNSATQ==]

Paul Kelly puts his past on hold
by Brett Leigh Dicks
Where do you start when introducing someone like Paul Kelly? Do you start by talking
about his eight ARIA Awards - the Australian equivalent of a Grammy Award? Do you
talk about the 20 or so albums he has released, the diversity of those recordings
or the successes they have achieved? Do talk about songs like "Before Too Long,"
"Darling It Hurts," or... More [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?e=001c3KWelEg5dBk2oOGUXOVjxrs3IIo0lwJttfeDF6dmKfhiav_3Pp-mYD1zob3byeJaWSCABDFs6uT9vDzQT7uXbg7PJN0fSyGOMd6CLyFcJN5ZnALvNBqkKrD3eT5yBKT5p2-SMJB7wC9jzB-tyPmT8-iDuCVIrkwDRrsAXvVFeeZ2IfyB3uPEDqYeP7plla6]

Elephant's memory - Review of Elephant Revival live in San Francisco
by Paul Wilner
So I picked up today's New York Times to read about the sale, at an auction in Paris,
of some sacred Hopi artifacts, over the objection of tribes people (and the United
States Ambassador to France. The auction house made over $1 million, but the loss
of treasured items including a "headdress known as the Crown Mother'' is irreplaceable

Lizzy Ross live at Hill Country BBQ (Washington DC)
by Ben Bonin
Washington DC is a city of professional transients, drawing folks from a wide range
of regional and cultural backgrounds; it can't always be easy for an artist to find
the common denominator in a crowded Saturday-night bar. Nonetheless, the Lizzy Ross
Band did just that this past weekend at Hill Country Barbecue, electrifying the

Duane Jarvis - Let's make some music; I'm not looking at my watch
by Rick Cornell
When he was growing up, Duane Jarvis' family lived in an assortment of places up
and down the West Coast - the Bay Area, Los Angeles, Seattle, Portland. His professional
music career began in Portland, just after he graduated from high school. He first
played in a blues band and then a rootsy pop band, each outfit cranking out four
sets a night. ("That was kind of my university," he says.) After moving from Portland
to Los Angeles in the mid-'80s, Jarvis toured as a guitarist for a Who's Who of
roots-and-country-leaning artists, including Dwight Yoakam, John Prine... Review of Australia's Bluesfest at
Byron Bay
by Steve Ford
Each year Peter Noble, the 60-something co-founder and supremo of the 23-year-old
event, promises the 'best Bluesfest ever'. I'm never sure who's talking - the hard
headed promoter or the besotted fan. He's both, which goes some way to explaining
Bluesfest's success. The thing is, the Bluesfest brand is so strong there seems
no need for Noble to compete... More [http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?e=001c3KWelEg5dCvO1q1dJmtg3M5yNK6i-F9mW6fCMkPiy5gSiRl3mrFcZrSG17_niC30CjHgGheP7zA16-jDgMyBpgUQ8QMInsIh5vbY0jbojVXANF8NXw1e1OxgOxAzmtQLEQdOtKBcFPzZ2k2OBH6Eg3rj4U0OWnodtHsZx7R3CrxysaWBNo1_pEkL3T9HbScm6U7o8LynDmkHQG5okAJ5W4VQD-nEney]

It's always a little tough to write about non-essential subjects when devastating
tragedy has come down on folks who happened to be at the wrong place at the wrong
