Photo Credit: Erika Goldring Americana Music Association Festival, Conference, Honors & Awards Makes Local and Global Impact Premiere Boutique Festival Galvanizes "Americana is to Music as Sundance is to Film" Reputation   With events ranging from intimate showcases to insightful panels to a sold-out, nationally broadcast awards show, the Americana Music Association's annual Festival, Conference and Honors & Awards drew thousands to Nashville to explore the past, present and future of roots music. Highlights included: The sold-out Honors & Awards show at Nashville's famed Ryman Auditorium, which was broadcast live on AXS TV, SiriusXM satellite radio, WSM-AM 650 and streamed on NPR.org, and will be rebroadcast in an edited form later this season as part of PBS' "ACL Presents" series. The Festival's music programming featured more than 140 official events and showcases attracting an aggregate 20,000 attendees over the fest's five-day span. The Conference slate presented approximately 200 individuals participating in unique panels, workshops and musical performances centered at Nashville's downtown Sheraton Hotel and throughout downtown Music City. Conference attendance increased to nearly 1,500 registrants, marking a 20% increase over 2012. "AmericanaFest" garnered tremendous international attention as well, with attendees, performers and panelists from Australia, Canada, the UK and multiple European countries. Performance highlights include sets from musical legends such as Rosanne Cash, Richard Thompson, Billy Bragg, Delbert McClinton, David Bromberg, Shelby Lynne, North Mississippi Allstars, as well as rising stars John Fullbright, The Lone Bellow, Houndmouth, Parker Millsap and Rose Cousins. Actor/musician Ed Helms' "Bluegrass Situation Midnight Windup" party ramped up the weekend's activities after the Honors & Awards show, and an epic Lucinda Williams set Sunday night capped off an unparalleled week of music. The event expanded its outreach into the Nashville community with showcases at multiple venues, partnering with the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum, the Downtown Presbyterian Church, Centennial Park's Musicians Corner, the Hard Rock Cafe, Second Fiddle and Nashville Crossroads, plus music retailers Grimey's New & Preloved Music and The Groove New and Used Vinyl & CD's, for a series of daily events.
