From Kim Ruehl, your Guide to Folk Music
Late summer and early autumn is a great time of year for new releases. Many of the labels hold back their best albums for release in the fall, so buckle down and get ready for the good stuff. Here's a look at some great new albums you probably want to get a hold of.

Tim O'Brien & Darrell Scott - 'Memories and Moments'
Between them, Tim O'Brien and Darrell Scott are proficient on pretty much every instrument vital (or even decorational) to American folk and bluegrass music. So, it stands to reason that a collaboration between the two would be replete with incredible instrumentation, not to mention great songwriting. Check out this review of their new duo album.

All About The Greencards
Originally from Australia, The Greencards now make their home in Austin, Tex., home of great live music. So, it's not surprising that they're one of the finest live acts in all of contemporary folk and Americana music. With a new album out that's easily their best yet, now is a good time to get to know The Greencards.

New, from the Civil Wars
News around the Civil Wars in the past year has mostly been focused on the drama of a possible split (announced officially as a hiatus). Gossip aside, though, the album they recorded just before canceling their last tour is now out, and well worth its own talk and buzz. Check out my full review.

Amanda Shires - 'Down Fell the Doves'
Amanda Shires has been steadily gaining traction on the indie roots and Americana circuit these past few years, but it's not until her latest release, 'Down Fell the Doves', that her songs sound fully realized and unstoppably compelling. If you haven't heard it yet, you simply must.
