Be a part of "the coolest music scene today" The New York Times   Become a member or renew your membership   Support the Americana Music Association    "To advocate for the authentic voice of American Roots Music around the world."   It's an exciting time in the Americana community.  Our September Music Festival & Conference was our most successful event ever.  More than 150 performing artists, over 200 panelists, 1500+ music business conference attendees with an aggregate 20,000 fans attending Americanafest over the five day event;  All record numbers. Last week, we hit a new high as we now have over 1900 members marking a 19% increase to our community from last year, and a steady climb since 2007 when the Association included 1100 members. Our association works to enhance the general awareness of our genre and community taking the form of projects that increase general visibility - all with the ultimate goal of connecting artists to an appreciative audience.   To that end we promote the Americana community via grassroots marketing, social media (Facebook and Twitter) and, best of all, word of mouth. In addition to hosting the annual Americana Music Festival & Conference in Nashville and producing the Honors & Awards show from the historic Ryman Auditorium (as seen on AXS TV and PBS via Austin City Limits), we also publish the weekly Americana Airplay Chart, participate in industry events, conduct research and serve as an advocate on behalf of Americana's interests.   In the coming weeks, we will commence our annual Board of Directors elections. Today, we write to ask for your consideration to renew or become a member so that you can directly contribute to our direction with your vote.   The Americana Board of Directors is an elected group of individuals voted in by our membership.  The Board members are volunteers, meeting monthly throughout the year and setting the Association's agenda and long range plans at an annual retreat in January.  By becoming a member, if you are not one already, you will have voting privileges to allow you to take part in the upcoming election that will commence on November 4.    Additionally, membership will allow you to vote in our annual Honors & Awards election that will take place in the spring.  It will also secure a discounted registration rate for our annual festival and conference slated for September 2014 in Nashville, TN (more details on that to follow).
