AMERICANA MUSIC ASSOCIATION TO PRESENT FIRST SHOWCASE AT
CANADIAN MUSIC WEEK
 MARCH 20, 2013

(Nashville, Tenn) Feb. 27, 2013 - The Americana Music Association is proud to announce that it will present the organization's first official international showcase at the prestigious Canadian Music Week on Wednesday, March 20 in Toronto, Canada.

The inaugural event, co presented by Outlaws & Gunslingers (Six Shooter Records + Starfish Entertainment), comes to Toronto's Legendary Horseshoe Tavern during Canada's high profile music confab featuring Canadian artists who push roots and folk boundaries with their distinctive takes on traditional genres.

"Canadian artists have long been a staple of the Americana Music Festival and Conference in Nashville and we thought it was time for us to expand our footprint north of the border," said Jed Hilly, Executive Director of the not for profit outfit.  "You don't have to be American to make Americana Music and these artists exemplify that"

From the raspy rock of NQ Arbuckle to the songwriting finesse of Jim Cuddy and Justin Rutledge, the lineup will reaffirm Canada's enduringcontribution to the world of Americana music. The evening's schedule is a mix of band shows and songwriter circles. In addition to NQ Arbuckle, Justin Rutledge and Belle Starr will each play hour-long sets in support of their new albums.  Retro country phenom Daniel Romano joins Oh Susanna and Kayla Howran for the first of the 'in the round' bills. The second songwriter arrangement brings recent Juno nominee Danny Michel and Mexican folk artist Quique Escamilla on stage with Jim Cuddy.
